Her birth name is Theo-Alice Jeanne Carpenter. She also used the stage names of Jean Carpenter and Theo-Alice Carpenter. Her nickname was Taji, although at Lawlor, her classmates referred to her as Jaine.
Attended Lawlor Professional School, Hollywood, and graduated in 1935.
Jean started her show business carrier as a baby actress in 1919, ending her baby appearances in a movie with Baby Peggy (Peggy Montgomery) in “Helen’s Babies” in 1924. She had occasional adult roles through 1945.
Jeanne married Robert Drysdale (1937-1947), and they had a son, Don M. Drysdale. Jeanne later married Robert Alvin Grimes. Their children are Gloria Mitzi Grimes Rosson, Angela Jeanne Grimes Wilkins, Victoria Lee Grimes Holsinger, and Theo-Alice Mimi Grimes Gordon.
