Singer/dancer/actress Mitzi Gaynor began her career as a child ballerina and danced with the Los Angeles Civic Light Opera. She moved into films, the first of which was My Blue Heaven (1950), where she became a leading lady of light musicals. She is best remembered today for her role in the film South Pacific (1958), one of her last films. She has since appeared on stage, television and in night clubs.
