From the 1949 Mar-Ken Yearbook “49’er” biographies:
Case Number V: Brenda Henderson (July 4th)
Another easterner from the far, far east (New York, to be exact). This fortyniner is a true Yankee Doodle gal born on the fourth of July. Her talent is raising parakeets. However, in her mining days she hasn’t yet hit upon her life’s ambition. While she continues digging around for a goal, her amusement is in talking to fellow miners (or minors) and starting to knit sweaters and dresses. Let’s hope she’ll finish those argyles.
Can you imagine: Brenda Henderson stop knitting on her skirt?
Favorite saying: Where’s my knitting bag?
Suppressed desire: To own a car.

From the 1949 Mar-Ken Yearbook: “Guess Who”:
Find this student whose nickname’s Benny
She’s about as bright as a Penny
Her hands are little, feet are small
She’s always carrying her knitting ball.

Brenda Henderson is a member of Sigma Gamma Lambda, and was Vice-President of the National Honor Society, Mar-Ken Chapter – 1949.
