Marjorie Ann Knapp

From the 1943 Mar-Ken Primary & Junior High School Annual:
Marjorie Ann Knapp wrote these two poems for the 5th/6th Grade section of the Annual:

MAR-KEN
On the land and on the sea
Mar-Ken is the school for me
Can’t you see, can’t you see
Mar-Ken is the school for me,
We will always praise her up,
We will never let her down.
If it’s up to us, she will win the royal crown
If you ever go there
You will say it’s grand.
Mar-Ken is the one and only
Best school in the land.
She’s a grand old school,
And she’s no ones fool.
On that you can rely.
If you doubt it,
Then please don’t shout it,
For we love our school.

THE KNIGHT
Here comes the Knight
All ready to fight
He is so brave and bold.
His sword is young
His spear not old.
For this is his first flight.
His armour is gay and bright.
His eyes are flashing
His teeth are gnashing.
But he never returned
And I have learned
He fought for a long time
This poor fellow
And he died fighting
For he was not yellow.
