Diana Lewis “Mousie”

Born: September 18, 1919, Asbury Park, New Jersey
Died: January 18, 1997, Rancho Mirage, California, age 77

Diana Lewis graduated from Lawlor Professional School in 1936. By that time she was several years into her silver screen career, her first movie performance being in 1934. Her classmate, actress Jean Porter tells mar-ken.org that she was a “darling and funn” girl. Jean says that Bill called Diana “Mousie,” so everyone kept that label for her. Bill, of course, is her future husband, actor William Powell. They were married from 1940 until Bill’s death in 1984. The Internet Movie Database shows that Diana performed in eighteen movies through 1943, when she retired from movie making.
