Joe is the brother of Pat Michels.
Joseph Michels attended Mar-Ken School in 1952-1953, graduating in June 1953. He went on to earn his B.A. in Philosophy, and his Ph.D. in Anthropology from UCLA. He is Emeritus Professor of Anthropology at Penn State University. Joe has conducted archaeological research in Africa, the Western Mediterranean, Central America, and North America.
During the summer of 1954, Joseph was a member of the Mar-Ken staff at the Summer School in Cuernavaca, Mexico.
Mr. Michels served as a pall bearer at Mrs. Minnie Ethel Bessire’s funeral.
