THANKSGIVING – by Betty Mills
Thanksgiving is a holiday
When all good people meet,
To gather round the festive board
Spread with good things to eat:
Turkey and stuffings and cranberry sauce,
Plum pudding and pumpkin pie,
Cake and candy and everything nice –
Little brown cookies just filled with spice!
But the apple cider I let pass by
I said, “No, thank you. I can’t even try.”
And mother said as she led me away,
“You ate too much this Thanksgiving Day!”
