Alan Howard Simon

Alan H. Simon attended Van Nuys High School and transferred to Mar-Ken School for his senior year, graduating in 1956. He earned his B.A. at USC and a Doctor of Jurisprudence Degree at the University of California, Hastings College of the Law. He served in the United States Marine Corps.

Mr. Simon is now retired after 35 years as a Los Angeles County Public Defender, ending his career as the Chief of the Special Operations Bureau.

Alan is the creator, researcher and contact person for the website that you are now viewing. His many interests include the history of the Southern California area, vintage automobiles, videography and photography, and art projects.

He has served on many boards, task forces and committees addressing social justice issues. He currently serves as a Cabinet member of Kitchen Table Democracy. And among his many honors he is proud of his Distinguished Merit Citation "for his outstanding leadership of the Administration of Justice Program" awarded by the National Conference of Community and Justice.

Alan has been married to Joan since 1967, and they have two married sons, Ken and Greg, of which they are very proud.
